Our Communion Table

The United Methodist communion table is open to everyone who sincerely desires to grow in their love of God and neighbor, regardless of any, or no, church membership or affiliation. We practice open table communion because:
1. Jesus practiced radically open table fellowship: "he eats with sinners" was the charge made against him by his enemies. And it was true!
2. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, believed that receiving holy communion could be an evangelizing act.
3. An open communion table in our divided, fractured world is a concrete expression of God's open invitation to the banquet table of grace.
Please know that if you attend worship at Wesley, you are WELCOME to partake in communion. Communion is traditionally offered at both the 8:30 and 10:45 worship services on the first Sunday of each month. It is also offered at various special worship services throughout the year, most notably Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve.
