Stephen Ministry

Founded in 1975 by Lutheran pastor Kennenth Haugk, Stephen Ministry is a nondenominational, nation-wide program providing emotional and spiritual support for adults who are experiencing difficult life situations. Stephen Ministers are lay persons trained in skills such as listening, sharing God’s love, and supporting others who are in need or in a crisis. Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one Christian ministry through regular, confidential care. All Stephen Ministers receive excellent ongoing training and support from trained and experienced Stephen Leaders.
Stephen Ministry has been active at Wesley since 1991. Over 65 people have been trained as Stephen Minsiters since that time, and hundreds of people throughout the congregation and community have been served through this confidential ministry of compassion.
If you think you could benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister or are interested in learning what it means to serve as a Stephen Minister, please contact Donna Hudson, the Director of Stephen Ministry at Wesley, at (217) 345 - 3917, or by email at donnah@charlestonwesley.org.
