Rev. Tom Corum
Tom is a native of Peoria and also spent ten of his formative years in the small community of Trivoli, Illinois. A graduate of Farmington East High School, he earned a B.A. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. A child of the church and of United Methodism, Tom has served churches of varying sizes and locations throughout the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and enjoys proclaiming the good news of God’s love for all people in word and deed, helping them grow in faith, and supporting them in putting their unique spiritual gifts to use to enhance the church’s ministry. Tom is married to Stephanie, an attorney who works as a public defender, and together they are the parents of an adult daughter, Jacqueline, and a teenage son Ben.
Rev. Janice Kahl
Pastor of Congregational Care
A native Texan, granddaughter of a Methodist circuit rider, preacher’s wife for 32 years before his death, and third-grade teacher for almost 30, Janice has just retired from 17 years of being a local UM pastor to churches in West Texas. Moving to Charleston to be close to her daughter, son-in-law (who teaches at EIU), and 5-year-old Ella, Janice is glad that Texas is only one plane ride away to watch her two other grandchildren play university and high school tennis. She has found Wesley UMC to be a special place where her soul can be filled and where she can sing in the choir and play hand bells. Other favorite pastimes are reading, cooking Mexican food, playing the piano, and eating out with friends.
Director of Children and Lay Ministries
Jessica Ulrich is thankful to be a part of the Charleston Wesley UMC family as the Director of Children’s & Lay Ministries. She was born & raised in the small town of Flanagan, IL. While studying Theology & Pastoral Ministries at Greenville University, Jessica pursued her calling as Director of Tutoring at The Simple Room (a Christian K-12 Non Profit After-School Program) and in advocating for women & minorities. If you do not see Jessica wandering around the church, you might find her reading or playing Uno at Jackson Avenue Coffee, admiring antiques at local antique/thrift shops, or treasuring time with family & friends.
Director of Communication Ministries
Rosalie Addison has worked at Wesley UMC in various capacities since 1999. She currently writes the monthly Wesley Circuit newsletter, sends e-letters, and takes care of the church’s Facebook page. She oversees prayer ministries, sending prayer requests via email as well as posting requests and concerns on the church’s Facebook Prayer Team page. She also sends a daily E-votion, which is also posted on tumblr, as well as the website, every weekday. Rosalie has been married to her husband Rick for 35 years and has two children over the age of 30, although she doesn’t know how that happened since she herself was 30 just yesterday.
Director of Youth Ministries
Brock was raised in Washington, IL, and is excited his wife Betzy's call to campus ministry has led them back to Illinos again. After graduating from Illinois State University with a degree in Music Education, he obtained a teaching position, and he and Betzy met through a fellow teacher, Betzy's twin sister. Though Betzy's calling to ministry has led to many different jobs for Brock, he is excited to be able to serve the church through youth ministry again, here in Charleston, as he did in Richlands, VA, for the last four years. When he is not serving the youth of the church, Brock is likely to be caring for their two children, Benjamin and Brendan.
Rev. Harry Tingley
Harry graduated from EIU and has lived in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Champaign, Illinois since then. During his time at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Chicago, Harry felt called to ordained ministry and began studies at Seabury-Western Episcopal. He graduated from Seabury in 2001 and was ordained a priest at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. James in Chicago in 2004. He has been the organist at Wesley UMC since November, 2010.
Director of Adult and Children Choirs
Administrative Assistant / Bell Choir Director
Elizabeth has worked for years as an arts professional and educator. When not involved in church music ministry and administration, she can be found singing, playing the piano, teaching music, and working in local theatre. She is married to actor and playwright Earl Halbe.
Allison has been a student at Eastern Illinois University for the past 4 years and recently started graduate coursework to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. She is from a small town in Illinois called Atlanta and considers Charleston to be her second home. She is passionate about helping others and loves to try new things.
