This Sunday: Punishment and Patience
I Corinthians 10:1-13, Luke 13:1-9
When we talk about sin, we usually prefer to talk about somebody else's sin, don't we? Especially those of us who take the time to worship, to go to church and pray and sing and listen to the scriptures and serve others. It's not unusual for us to desire the punishment of others who are "worse sinners" than we are. After all, how else will they learn? But when confronted with questions about sinners and sin, Jesus puts the burden back on the questioners and tells the story of a fig tree that won't bear any fruit, an owner who wants to cut it down, and a gardener who refuses to do so. We'll talk about what that story means where sin and sinners are concerned. All are welcome, no exceptions.
WORSHIP TIMES are 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM
